This privacy policy sets out how Mortgage Maker Academy uses and protects any information that you give Mortgage Maker Academy when you use our site.

The Data We Collect

General Data: The use of our services will automatically create information that will be collected. For example, when you use our Services, your geographic location, how you use the Services, information about the type of device you use, your Open Device Identification Number, date/time stamps for your visit, your unique device identifier, your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (IP) address, and domain name are all collected. This information is generally used to help us deliver the most relevant information to you and administer and improve the Site.

Log Files: As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes IP addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information to maintain and improve the performance of the Services.

Analytics: We use analytics services (including, but not limited to, Google Analytics) to help analyze how users use the Site. Analytics services use Cookies to collect information such as how often users visit the Site and we use the information to improve our Site and Services.

Your Rights

As a user of our site, you have the following rights, any of which you may exercise by contacting us.

  • The right to ask what personal data we hold about you at any time. Extra requests (particularly repetitive) for data may result in a fee being charged to the user.

  • The right to ask us to update and correct any out-of-date or incorrect personal data that we hold about you free of charge.

  • As set out above, the right to opt out of any marketing communications that we may send you.

California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section 1798 allows California residents to ask companies with whom they have an established business relationship to provide certain information about the companies’ sharing of Personal Data with third parties for direct marketing purposes. Mortgage Maker Academy does not share any California consumer Personal Data with third parties for marketing purposes without consent.  If you are a test candidate, Mortgage Maker Academy will provide your Data to your test sponsor, who may use the information in accordance with its privacy policies. 

Children

Our products and services are intended for an adult audience and are not targeted directly at children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected personal information from a child under the age of 16, and do not have parent or guardian consent on file, we will remove such personal information from our records as soon as practicably possible. If you believe we are incorrectly processing the personal information of a child under the age of 16, we ask that you contact us.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

Mortgage Maker Academy reserves the right to change this policy at any time. We will notify you of any significant changes to our Privacy Policy by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account or by placing a prominent notice on our site. Significant changes will go into effect 30 days following such notification. Non-material changes or clarifications will take effect immediately.

Refund Policy

Service-user who register for a training course occasionally change their mind for one reason or another. Regardless of the reason, we believe there should be a definite refund policy for service-user who decide not to take the course. Refunds for courses are only given under the following circumstances:

  • The service user did not attend any portion of the course and the service user requests a refund, in writing via email within three [3] business days from the date of the registration (email notification sent). There will be no refunds for any courses (or curricula) once a course has been accessed in any manner.

  • A full refund will be issued less the administrative fee.

  • All shipped course materials (books, study guides, CDs, Self-Study Kits, Videos, etc.) are returned, unopened/unused at your own expense if you accept delivery of the package.

  • Additional restocking and shipping costs may apply to returned books.

Please understand that with the enrollment and access to your course, you have read and agree to the aforementioned refund policy. There are no extensions granted for your course. If you do not complete your course by the end date on your welcome letter, there will be additional fees for extended access.

Course Cancellation Policy

  1. If the service user is unable to start class, a 100% program refund can be requested but no less than 10 days from the program start date. If the student has not requested a refund prior to 10 days from the course start date, refunds are not applicable. The refund request must be in writing and sent to Mortgage Maker Academy

  2. Once lessons have begun payment is non-refundable.  CPI does not, under any circumstance, give cash refunds to service users who do not or cannot finish the program for which they have registered.

  3. It is the service user's responsibility to comply with the established schedule.

  4. A complete no-show results in the loss of class.

  5. No refunds will be issued for course cancellations. Please be advised that all fees must be paid in advance. Students may be allowed to reschedule for another live class if one is available. A rebooking fee will be charged at the time of registration for the new course.

    Mortgage Maker Academy will issue a Confirmation of Cancellation email upon the timely receipt of a cancellation request. Service-user is advised to retain a copy of the Confirmation email as proof that the cancellation was received and approved.

Education Administration Policies & Procedures

Registration

All students are assessed and admitted using fair, equitable, and transparent procedures based on clearly defined, consistent, and equitable criteria, and in accordance with the NMLS Policy.

Procedure

  1. Registration Process: All courses are available for registration through our website. Students must provide accurate and up-to-date personal information during the registration process.

  2. Payment: Full payment must be made at the time of registration.

  3. Refund Policy: Refunds will be granted for course cancellations made by Mortgage Maker Academy. If a student is unable to attend a course due to unforeseen circumstances, a refund will be granted if the request is made no later than 3 days prior to the start of the course. An administrative fee will be deducted from the refund amount. Refunds will not be granted for no-shows or cancellations made within 3 days of the course start date.

  4. Course Cancellation: Mortgage Maker Academy reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a course cancellation, the student will be notified as soon as possible and a full refund will be granted.

  5. Course Materials: Course materials will be provided to the student electronically or via mail, depending on the course.

Attendance

  1. The academic success of every student at Mortgage Maker Academy is important to us.

  2. Students’ active participation in the learning environment is critical to this success.

  3. Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System requires that each NMLS-approved course be taught over 20 hours of instruction. We, therefore expect a service user’s regular attendance in the virtual/physical classroom.

  4. Attendance in our classes is defined as a student physically attending a classroom on the enrolled/registered dates and times. We track attendance through rosters and sign-in sheets. Students are expected to attend the course for which they are registered (present at the start of the course, return from breaks, and remain in class for the. course's complete duration).

  5. Students will be required to provide a current government-issued ID prior to the start of the course to verify that the student is who they say they are and are not representing somebody else.

  6. Mortgage Maker Academy instructors and/or facilitator (s) will be responsible for checking students into the course and verifying identity, as well as validating that students have returned from breaks.

  7. While attending the course students are not allowed to be engaged in other activities: surfing the Internet, conducting business, engaging in household activities, etc.

  8. Instructor is required to routinely poll or ask every student to respond to questions to confirm their presence throughout the entire course. The student who is unable to respond to questions promptly will be asked to leave the classroom.

  9. If a student misses a part of the course, that person will not be able to make up the missed portion of the class later at no charge. To get full credit for the class, the student will need to be registered in another class and attend the entire class. The student will be charged the full cost for the second attempt at finishing the class.

  10. The following practices are not acceptable:

  • Being late for a course for more than 5 minutes;

  • Returning late from breaks or meals;

  • Making up for the missed percentage of the course.

No-Show Status

A service user who registers for a course and never attends will be reported to the Mortgage Maker Academy by the instructors as a “No Show.” A grade of NS will be posted for these courses. No Shows are reported to the Financial Aid Office and may affect the service users’ current and future financial aid.

A service user who registers for a course and never submits an instructor-prompted activity into the course will be reported to the Mortgage Maker Academy by the instructors as a No Show.

Instructor Hiring Practices & Policy

This policy sets out the hiring practices for instructors at Mortgage Maker Academy. It is designed to ensure that the academy recruits the most qualified and suitable instructors who are aligned with Mortgage Maker Academy's mission and values.

Policy Statement

Mortgage Maker Academy is committed to hiring instructors who are well-qualified and dedicated to providing students with the highest quality of education. The academy seeks to hire instructors who have relevant experience, expertise, and a passion for teaching. The academy also aims to provide a fair and transparent hiring process that is consistent with legal and ethical standards.

Instructor Skills and Qualifications

  1. Mortgage Maker Academy instructors must be qualified and meet legal requirements to instruct NMLS-approved courses. Instructors must be knowledgeable in the course subject matter as a result of either relevant academic and/or professional experience.

  2. Instructor Skills: Instructors must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Interpersonal Skills that foster relationship and team building. Instructors need to be able to work appropriately with diverse groups of people. Instructors are required to be respectful of and refrain from making comments that may reveal political, cultural, or gender bias.

  • Communication Skills. Instructors are required to use language, including industry terminology, confidently and appropriately.

  • Teaching Skills. Instructors are to possess the ability to share information one-to-one or one-to-many. Additionally, the instructor must be able to demonstrate mastery of the course material, plan lessons and lead students through the course topic, and collect and use information from diverse sets of resources. Instructors are required to distill complex information and/or concepts in such a manner that students can learn the information. Simply reading from texts, materials, or state/ federal statutes with little or no interaction and/or synthesis of the material does not meet the definition of teaching. The employment of “canned” responses in an online instructor-led course is also not defined as teaching.

  • Organizational Skills. Instructors need to be able to set goals (generally in the form of learning objectives), plan activities, establish priorities, and manage time.

  1. Instructors Qualifications: Instructors must demonstrate through recent and verifiable experience that she/he is a subject matter expert in one or more areas of mortgage loan origination laws and practices including, but not limited to: Federal law and regulations; State laws and regulations; General mortgage origination knowledge and practices.

  2. Detailed requirements for instructors from various segments of the mortgage industry are as follows:

  • Industry professional. Instructors must have at least 5 years of professional experience in the industry in a position that bears directly on mortgage loan origination practices including, but not limited to origination, underwriting, secondary marketing, operations compliance, quality control, and/or other comparable positions.

  • Federal/State Regulator. Regulatory instructors must have at least 3 years of responsible experience in a regulatory position, including the conduct or supervision of mortgage company examination (brokers and/or lenders), consumer complaint investigation and resolution, or mortgage legal affairs.

  • Associated Mortgage GSE Professional. Instructors formerly or currently associated with Mortgage GSEs must have a minimum of 3 years of responsible experience in a position that is comparable to either the industry professional or regulator position described above.

  • Experience as an Instructor. Those who are teaching courses should have experience teaching adult learners and have the skills listed above.

  1. Instructors must also meet minimum requirements for a criminal background check that are included in the SAFE Act. Instructors are required to provide a copy of the California Criminal Records on the instructor’s criminal history no more than 60 days old.
